Full Ball or Roller Bearings are bearing designs that maximize load-carrying capacity by eliminating conventional cages, allowing the bearing to be completely filled with rolling elements (balls or cylindrical rollers). This design significantly increases the number of rolling elements compared to standard caged bearings, providing superior radial load capacity in compact axial spaces.
Full Ball / Roller Bearings
Characteristics: No cage; maximum complement (>5% more balls/rollers); snap-type assembly or split outer ring.
Advantages: 40% higher radial load capacity than caged standard bearings for oscillating motions (e.g., construction equipment pivots). Slower speeds only.
Technical Ceiling: Max speed 30% of caged bearing (due to ball-to-ball contact); static load per ISO 76 doubled; limiting oscillation frequency 2 Hz at full load.
Caution: Do not use at continuous rotation - frictional heat destroys within minutes. Standard caged bearings are correct for rotating shafts. These are for slow, heavy swaying motions only.
